Ed from Ed's Funny pages recently chose his 10 funniest bloggers of 2010, and from over 40 nominations, yours truly made the final 10.Personally, I think is great that it's only May and the list has been decided. If John Cleese starts blogging in the last half of the year (he's almost as funny as I am), we have to say "Sorry John, your blog will have to wait until 2011. Your blog is not funny this year"
I was surprised to win, because I know Ed isn't a fan of long posts. I think his exact words were "Also, 5 paragraphs of joke setup before the punchline will move you to the bottom of the list. GET TO THE POINT".. actually I know those were his exact words, because I just copied and pasted them. (Jokes on him though, 5 paragraphs would be a short post for me.)
But I think the thing he realises is that even though my posts might be long, each word is more important that both the word before it, and the word after it. Yes, even these words right now.
Of course, a nominee can't win without being nominated, so a special thanks to B-Dub for the nomination.
And also thank you to the people who emailed me and congratulated me on this award.
I'd like to share a few emails with you now.
Brendan said..

Dorothy had these words of congratulations..
Not my robberies inherit brandy!! An map vanished, 'are.So illustrate ! was be mental, tweed. Or tall league ...
And I'll share with you one more email. This one came from Penelope.
passages necessitate do residing!! At do token? Is ploughed proceed. Which heavens? by His.. A expedition my ensue,.
I don't know who any of those people are, but they do seem incredibly excited about me winning this award. At least I think that's what they're on about. (Yes, those were all seriously emails I received)
This is probably where most people would move on from the award. They've covered everything they need to cover. They've let everyone know that someone else thinks they're awesome, and they've thanked the person who thought they were awesome to begin with, as well as sharing the emails of congratulations for being awesome that followed.
I'm not ready to move on just yet though.
I'm gonna do this shiz my way.
With a Cartoon (which shouldn't surprise you seeing as this is TOONDay.)
Some of you might notice some subtle changes from my last self portrait. That was thanks to your feedback. Some of you may not recognise the changes, they're just small adjustments.
The other character featuring is one of Ed's creations "StickMan". Head over to this link to catch his last episode.
And for those of you who are concerned about me stealing a fellow bloggers creation, yes I did make a deal with Ed. The deal was, if I use StickMan, he calls his lawyers. It's kind of like the deal rugby league players here make with girls they meet in bars, which is "If your whole team rapes me, I'm calling the cops"
Anyway, less words more toons...
I think after watching that, it should be painfully clear I have never been close to anything that resembles a six pack. Sure I've seen them on TV, but in real life? Nup.
If you enjoyed today's post and you're feeling generous, head over to Ed and B-Dub and thank them for their part in it. A butterfly flaps it's wings and ScoMan finds inspiration for a cartoon.
I've got quite a bit to get through today. I don't know if I'll get through everything, I might cut stuff that seemed like a good idea before but now is not such a good idea, so let's see how we go.
First though, even though I wasn't really going to do the awards thing any more, I do have a couple to get out there. Let's start and end with awards. While I still have everybody's attention, this one came from Meredith at (flash) pasteurized.
That's right. Meredith thinks I'm a gorgeous lady of blogging. I think she really just wanted to see me dressed up in an evening gown again. Who can blame her? I do choose gowns that highlight my awesome legs.
Anyway, I'm not going to lie to you. Ever since this award was first created us guys have been eying it off as you girls selfishly passed it on to one another. We'd even email each other and complain about how it was unfair, and none of us would ever receive it. With that in mind, I am going to pass this award on to..
Next, Nomad made it through to the next round of his competition. Click on his blog above (365 days of People) and get over there and voting this week between Sunday and Wednesday. I'll even make you a deal.. IF he wins, I will do something cool for you, my readers.
I'll put up a poll and let you decide what that cool thing is (vlog, a giveaway, something out of my comfort zone to blog about.. any other ideas you guys list below) to thank you all for voting. He's only just made it the last few weeks, so every one of your votes will be important. Do this for me, and I'll do something for you.
And get your followers to vote as well. Let's see if we can pull off what I think, would be a bit of a shock victory after the way voting has gone the last few weeks (Cheryl is way too popular)
But now for the point of this weeks post..
Foo Fighters have inspired me.
They have inspired me to take a month off writing blogs. I'll still be doing thisisTuesday and Facebook Fail Friday, but that's hardly writing. That's pretty pictures and flashy gimmicks.
But for the next month, I won't be writing anything of any real content. (Well, maybe one thing. I have promised to do a Travel Aboard Thursday at Cheap Therapy. I don't know when it will be. Keep an eye out over there to learn about Australia)
So instead of writing this month, I have chosen some February Stars of my very own. The title is about them anyway. The song not so much. How temporary their stars are will be up to them and up to all of you.
I have chosen five bloggers (I chose 6, one declined) to guest post during the month of February. Five blogs that I have been following for awhile, but don't have the followers I think they should. They're all great, but for some reason they have gone unnoticed. They are hidden gems of the bloggosphere, and it's time I shared these gems with the world.
Guest blogging has bought a lot of people this way. Whether it be the blog for Insomniac Lolita, PinkNic's Planet or Speaking From the Crib, I'm sure that it was drew a lot of you this way, and I think now it's time for me to give some other people the chance to get a bit more recognition for their blogging.
And when I return in March I will hopefully be a bit more motivated, because the last few weeks I haven't really been feeling it.
Besides, you will always be able to turn to Twitter to experience my wit in 146 characters or less. Wit like this..
Thanks to SleepyJane for being the only one who laughed at that last one when it went live. To the rest of you who gave me *crickets*, you don't know what funny is.
I'll leave you today, and for a month, which an example of why it's important to have an OGOM (this is from Facebook messages to each other)
Me to him..
Anyway, thanks to Facebook we can keep in touch (you're not getting rid of me that easily), but if Collingwood beat Essendon this year (unlikely as it may be), expect me to disappear from the Internet for a month or two.
Him to me..
I have not moved yet so may bump into you, if Essendon beats Collingwood the bump might be with my car at high speed.
Oh, and remember to click the link just below the banner to tell me what we should do with the drunken blogger.
Last time I received this award, I didn't really know what to do with it. This time I know I'm supposed to list 10 things that make me happy, so here we go..
Family
My Xbox
Blogging
The fact all my shows will hopefully be back in the next 2 weeks
Fantasizing about actually going on a holiday this year
The sound of rain on the roof
My iTouch
Spending a whole day with a DVD marathon
The soundtracks to Dr Horrible, Commentary and Repo
Okay, so I didn't want to be one of those bloggers who did "gimmicky" weekly things, and here I am trying out a second. I guess with gimmicks you don't really have to think.
Anyway, here we are for the first thisisTuesday. Will it be the last? That's really up to you now isn't it?
I'll just start. You'll see how it works. I'll start with our volunteer...
See? That's all it is. I'm just making banners for other people.. because I can. Anyway, I started this one with something general. Something to keep as many of you as possible going "Oh crap, it was me! I volunteered! But when?"
Unveiling phase two...
Yep, still keeping you in the guessing game. Also, I didn't really use my eraser very well. Oh well.
Phase three and the person will know exactly who they are..
Yep, you know who you are now.. now it's time for everyone else to know who you are as well..
I'm pretty sure if you click on the banner it'll take you right to her blog. That's right, I'm getting high tech.
And Meredith might be wondering "But when did I volunteer?".. well it was right here..
So that was my inspiration to start using bloggers for thisisTuesday as well as celebs. There is going to be a celeb (sort of) coming up, but first, while it's there in black and white, I should show off my manly award (and perhaps my breathtaking gown as well)
I'm not sure which one of those was the actual award, so I'm taking them both and heading for the border! So long suckers!
No wait, I was supposed to do a celeb as well. No wait, not do, but like.. well, you know.
Anyway, lets see how many hints you need to get this one (it's an obscure one this week, in future they might be easier, but you'll see why I chose this person. Partly for the second hint, but mostly for the third..)
Anyone? A few of you perhaps?
If you didn't get it on the first one, the second one probably won't help much (but it's only because of the second one I know who he is)
Yep, with Meredith winning the award I had to go with the man who made me love the word quasi. It's my quasi-favorite word (word humor, it's almost as good as math humor)
Oh yeah, I still haven't done the big reveal. The big reveal that will make some of you go "Yeah, I knew it" and others go "Who the.."
I guess that's it for the first thisisTuesday. I'll be back with another next week with a (real) celebrity and if anyone else would like to see how they look in thisisLand, just leave a comment asking me to do you.. no wait..
Well, it's finally here. The last day of this whole "giving" thing. How some of you blog every day is beyond me. It's been a struggle just to get this far. In fact, I think I've earned the month of January off. And a promotion. And a pay rise. And a bigger office. Get me those things, then we'll talk Unicorns. Did I say Unicorns? I meant Dragons.
Anyway, I got this award today from Hilbilly Duhn and I think it is one of the best awards I have ever seen or received..
Hilarious isn't it? I don't have to do anything with this award. Only show it off proudly and make you all jealous (and also give you the mental image of squirrels in socks)
But she did kind of steal my thunder a bit. See because this is my 150th post. I couldn't find any awards to give out, and so I too made my own. Ready for the grand unveiling...
I know. It was cool before, but now it looks lame after that other one. But don't worry because remember..
There we go. And you're back.
For those of you who don't know, "Scosome" is a word created by the girl in the stiletto which means "Awesome things to do with ScoMan" (or something like that. She might need to correct me on the definition there)
Anyway, I thought I'd use that term to show my appreciation for fifteen bloggers for their awesome blogs, their great comments, and for all the other bloggy stuff during the 2009 year.
Fifteen bloggers. Fifteen blood spots. Because I wish I could keep your blood Dexter style in my air conditioning unit so that we'd always be close.
So there you have it. The 2009 Scosome awards. If I remember to, I'll do this again next year, so if you don't see your name there, you'll just have to work harder.
Congrats to all the winners.
Until tomorrow (Because I wouldn't leave you guys without a Facebook Fail Friday)
This one came to me from Insomnica Lolita who I have already steered you in the direction of this week, but if you didn't go then then go now because once I get this car started we're not stopping again until we reach your grandmothers and if you need to go while I'm driving, well you'll just have to do it in a cup.
So this is obviously the Thank You for the Blogging Award, but did you know it is the 2009 edition? Oh yeah, in just over a week this baby goes out of style and a whole new model rolls out. So I decided to take this chance to get in on this TYFTB2009 while the gettin's good, and deliver it today, before it's out of date.
For this one I'm supposed to choose at least four bloggers, and in at least 3 words say why they are so awesome.
I'm going to make it exactly three words, because that to me is more challenging than 3 words or more.
And I'll stick to the other thing as well. Is there anything I can't do?
You can't make it rhyme.
Oh that sounds like a challenge. You're on bitch!
Fuck you.
No, you know what? Fuck you too. I'm gonna let my talent do the talking.
We'll see.
We'll see is right.
Yeah.
Yeah I'm gonna do my thing now.
Good.
I know it's good.
Hope you enjoy it.
I hope you enjoy it.
Dude, I ain't gonna read it. There's TV to be watched.
Yeah. Fair enough.
Four Awe From the Hood some From the Library Blog She's so good gers She's not scary
*Yeah okay I was lazy with that group. It was too hard to find four of something and get awards to all the people I wanted to get them to, you know? Argh, you don't care*
Three Well written stuff Wise Keeps it fresh Men Makes me laugh
*Pronounced properly, stuff and laugh do so rhyme*
Two NaNo Writing style's spesh Novelists She's great too
Day three and I'm beginning to realise why I don't usually post on weekdays. I guess we're all just lucky there's nothing good on TV tonight or I would have failed right here and now, and I know you would hate to see me fail.
Although a new dilemma has entered the mix, because I can only think of one other award that is floating out there, and with two days to go.. well I'm sure you can see the problem. If you've given me an award I haven't accepted, let me know.
Here I am complaining about blogging four days in a row, Nomad blogs a lot more days in a row than that. 361 more days in fact. If you haven't checked out his blog yet take the time. He writes about a different group every day, usually pointing out their flaws and trying to help them be better people, although lately he has gone a bit soft (he claims it's because of the holiday season. I personally think when you spew hate over the web for more than 100 days eventually it's going to all disappear and you'll be nicer to everyone)
I'm not sure what the rules are for this one. He wrote about 10 individuals that make him happy. I could do the same.. nay, I will do the same! (I doubt there'll be many surprises for most of you though.)
1- Dexter Obvious first cab off the rank, for reasons I've made all too clear here in the past.
2- AJ Love spending time with my niece, and looking forward to seeing her over Christmas.
3- Jigsaw Love his mind games. Love the way he makes the world a better place.
4- Nathan Fillion He makes Twitter a better place
5- Dr Horrible Another great role model for the kids.
6- Joss Whedon A bit of a trend developing, but I'm too tired to think too hard.
7- Me Without me, I couldn't be happy. Mostly because I wouldn't exist, but mostly because I'm pretty awesome.
8- Tina Fey Has providing me with many laughs for many years.
9- Dante Looking forward to the video game
10- Maynard James Keenan Fantastic musician.
Okay, now to pass this on in the method we are all becoming accustomed to..
Well, it's ScoMan's second day of the giving season and today I'm giving away this little treat.
Just as well I got it in now because in 10 days that baby goes out of date.
This one was given to me by the girls over at Life Laugh Latte. They do a lot of fun vlogs about.. well just about life in general. The different little things that make it up and that you have to take the time to enjoy. The few of you who don't already follow them, head over and give them a look.
This one didn't come with any rules but Sameera tagged me to tell 7 truths about myself. Things that nobody knows. Well, that's hard, but I'll try anyway.
1- This is one that some of you would have seen and assumed, but now I'm going to make it certain in your minds and share it with the rest of my readers.
I think this is funny. Nobody else agrees.
When you're playing "Words with Friends" on your iPhone and you put in the word "Quo", the game tells you that's not a real word. But without "Quo", then the status quo wouldn't exist, and if we don't' have the status quo, what do we have?
2- I just watched "The Middle" for the first time. The tag said nothing about being interesting, it just said I had to tell truths about me that nobody knows. Nobody knew that.
3- It makes me sick when people don't shave properly and there's just one random hair out on it's own. I just.. stare at it.. and my stomach gets all funny.
4- I hate it when people whistle. The sound just drives me crazy. And really, what does it achieve? What is it's purpose? If you're whistling along with a song then whatever, but to just whistle for no reason? Seriously, shut up.
5- I planned on seeing The Dark Knight until Heath Ledger died. Then I boycotted it because I hated all the people who saw it just because Heath Ledger died, and there was the big fuss about it.
6- I'm only doing these awards and tags because I have no motivation to write much else
7- I usually leave anything with "TMI Thursday" in the heading sitting in my reader until I've read everything else. Not because I'm saving the best for last.
Anyway, time to pass this award on to some people who can choose whether or not they want to do the 7 truths..
It's day three of the horoscope thing and I give up already. Blogging every day for a month suddenly seemed like such a huge task, and I was really not into the spirit of the game (energy levels are low at this time of year). Keep following Daisy's adventure though, she is making it happen and making it interesting.
However, it is Sunday night and that means it's time to do my regular weekly post. Because I didn't have you vote for anything last week, this week I'm just throwing together things that didn't fit anywhere else.
First on the list, is thanking you all for your comments during the Seven Sins posts. They were all fantastic. I really enjoyed writing those posts and the fact you all got into it as much as you did and left the wonderful comments you did made the experience all the more enjoyable.
This award is to honor bloggers that are kindhearted individuals who regularly take part in my blog and always leave comments. This award is to thank those individuals for their growing friendships through the blog world.
Rather than list everyone I'm giving this award to, I'm just going to give it to the people who commented during the Seven Sins week. It was all my regular commentors, it was the people I have formed friendships with and it means I don't write a huge long list right now.
A special mention does go out to Catt for this award though for her post about Buckley. For those who don't know Buckley is a dog who was attacked by some unbelievably cruel people, and Catt's post about the incident was very passionate and spread the story to her international readers. Instead of spreading it to my international readers, I recommend reading Catt's post as I agree with her views on the action we need to take when it comes to animal cruelty, however the post is not for people with a weak stomach.
I've also wanted to let you all know that I've been working for awhile now (since before my 100th post as part of the 100th post celebration) with my three most loyal readers on a bit of a story. All of them have now been following me for over 100 posts, and I consider them all friends outside of the bloggosphere as well. The three bloggers I've been working with are..
Badriyyah - who has co-written a story with me before. Although our last Project kind of disappeared, we are working together again and I am a big fan of her blog and her writing so it's always an honour to work with her.
She has also been a great friend because we are both moody Scorpios who try to hide our moods behind our masks, but we can see right through each other, so we know when the other is having a bad day. She's been there for me a lot when I've been down, and I'm glad to have her as a friend.
touchingjoy who also threw me an award last week where I had to mention seven things about myself (and I cheated and I declare that the seven sins were the seven things) She is a very intelligent blogger and has taught me a lot about politics (in particular South African politics) that I would otherwise not have known about.
Through the magic of Twitter we have recently formed a strong friendship, and there is a lot of mutual respect and laughing at sitcoms that not a lot of other people watch going on. Although she's been far too busy to tweet to me lately (or so she says), I hope she remains a long term friend.
Finally D*, who hasn't written very much lately but when she does she lays it all on the line. She usually (always) writes about boys or some other juiciness in her life, and it is always an interesting read.
Not only has she been a follower since post one, as I've said before she is the reason I started this blog. She's been a friend for.. umm.. 7.. 8(?).. years now, and I know she has said before just that she would like to be the exception rather than the rule. In my life she is definetely the exception. It's no secret I struggle to make friends, and those I do make don't seem to last very long, so for someone to remain my friend for as long as she has is a rare feat indeed. Maybe someday I need to bring her in to write a guest blog.. "Dealing with ScoMan".
Hopefully next week we'll start bringing you the story. In the mean time, start following these ladies, add them to your readers or whatever it is you do to keep up with your favourite blogs.
They are only three friends in the bloggosphere, there are many more and you know who you are. Because today is (apparently) international friendship day I would like to thank all of you today for being such amazing people.
And so I'll finish on International Friends Day by saying I was recently asked (on twitter, by a blogger, so it includes all of you) how come all of my friends are beautiful women. I hadn't thought about it before that, but other than a few exceptions (being the beautiful men) I realised the person who asked the question (who shall remain nameless) had a point.
So how come all of my friends are beautiful people? Is it because I'm shallow and I'll only be friends with attractive people? Hardly. I couldn't tell you why it is.. and then I was listening to a song on the way home today, which gave an answer as good as any I could come up with..
Hello ScoFans! Another week, another blog. This week there was an overwhelming move to "The Perfect Time To Solve a Crime" In fact, with 62% of the vote, it now holds the record as the highest percentage of requests in the history of "Which blog would you like to read next?"
It was an absolute murdering.
Speaking of murdering, todays post is about a conversation I had with a coworker several weeks ago. A coworker who, like myself, doesn't mind a tale about serial killers (we'll call her SKF). When it comes to serial killers however, we both seem to have different strengths. I'm more about the domestic serial killers. I can tell you how many Australians have been locked away never to be released and how many victims each of them killed and injured. She seems to have more stats and facts on the international serial killers.
Five o'clock one Friday afternoon, and I forget why, the topic of conversation moved to Jack the Ripper. "When are they going to tell us who that was anyway? Don't they have to release those records after a couple of hundred years?" SKF asked. "Um, they don't know who it was. They can't release that information because the case was never solved" "Are you sure? I thought they knew who did it but just couldn't release the identity until a few hunred years had passed" "It was definetely unsolved" "Wiki it"
Having one win under my belt the discussion continued. She asked how many people he had killed. I had a feeling it was about 8 or 9. She felt that wasn't enough. She was sure it was more like twelve. Whilst an accurate figure is not available (there appear to have been a lot of unsolved murders happening around London at the time, it's hard to tell where the ripper ends and another killer begins), there are five universally agreed upon as the work of a single killer, but there were eleven invesitgated as part of the file.
Giving her the point for that one, we decided to see if we could work out who the mysterious Ripper could have been. Wiki provided us with a list of suspects, all we had to do was put on our sleuthing hats and determine the culprit. NKB (New Kid on the Block) piped up around this point, saying we were wasting our time, it was the prince that did it.
The theory was brought to major public attention in 1970 when Stowell published an article in The Criminologist which revealed his suspicion that Prince Albert Victor had committed the murders after being driven mad by syphilis. The suggestion was widely dismissed as Albert Victor had strong alibis for the murders, and it is unlikely that he suffered from syphilis.[38] Stowell later denied implying that Albert Victor was the Ripper[39] *
NKB was quickly overruled and ignored for later parts of the discussion, as his input was not seen as valueable. When the guy who originally put the theory forward denies ever agreeing with the theory, you should stop agreeing with it as well.
While we were looking through the suspects, one that amused everyone came up. I'm going to share that with you now before I continue.
After discussing all the suspects for what must have been about three quarters of an hour, long after everyone else had gone home TIL (the illistrious leader) came out of his office to find the two of us hunched over a computer laughing and arguing. We explained to him that we were just about to go home, and had one simple task to accomplish before we left, which was to determine the identity of the ripper.
TIL: I like your optimism. SCO: Because we're solving this after five on a Friday afternoon? TIL: Not only that, because to your way of thinking, someone had already worked out who the ripper is, they have used evidence and research to support their theory, they have put it onto the Internet, and they have not realised that they have worked out who the ripper is so all that's left to do is for you to come along and find it. SKF: We did work out what order the tax office is paying our stimulus payments in though. TIL: Did you? SKF: Yeah, it's by postcode. TIL: Oh, I understand now. I see where you're coming from. You've already solved one difficult case this afternoon, so the next most difficult one in line is Jack the Ripper. SCO: Exactly! TIL: Well, you'll have to tell me about it on Monday. I'm tired. I'm going home. SCO: Me too actually.
And just for those of you who are interested, I'll leave you the details of the suspect who was my personal favourite to have been the ripper.
Montague John Druitt (15 August 1857 – 1 December 1888)[3] was born in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, England, the son of a prominent local physician. He was educated at Winchester College and New College Oxford.[4] He graduated from Oxford in 1880 and two years later was admitted to the Inner Temple and called to the bar in 1885. He practised as a barrister and a special pleader until his death. He was also employed as an assistant schoolmaster at George Valentine's boarding school, 9 Eliot Place, Blackheath from 1881 until he was dismissed shortly before his death in 1888. His body was found floating in the River Thames off Thorneycroft's torpedo works near Chiswick on 31 December 1888. Medical examination suggested that his body was kept at the bottom of the river for about a month by stones placed in his pockets. The coroner's jury concluded that he committed suicide by drowning "whilst of unsound mind". Some modern authors suggest that Druitt was homosexual, and that his dismissal from his post at the boys' school was due to this and may have driven him to suicide.[5] His mother suffered from depression and died in an asylum in 1890. His disappearance and death shortly after the fifth and last canonical murder (which took place on 9 November 1888) and alleged "private information" led Assistant Chief Constable Sir Melville Macnaghten to name him as a suspect in a memorandum of 23 February 1894.
However, Macnaghten incorrectly described the barrister as a doctor and his age is incorrectly given as 41 (he was 31 at the time of his death).[6] On 1 September, the day after the first canonical murder, Druitt was in Dorset playing cricket, and while he could have used his city legal chambers as a base from which to commit the murders, most experts believe that the killer was local to Whitechapel, whereas Druitt lived miles away in Kent.[7] Recently some[specify] have expressed doubts whether he committed suicide or was murdered. Recent research shows that between the Kelly murder and his death, he had been involved as legal representation in a court case. InspectorFrederick Abberline dismissed Druitt as a serious suspect.*
I don't know why the inspector dismissed him as a suspect, so without knowing his reasoning behind it I'll just assume that I am far smarter than he was, and that he was onto the wrong thing and I am onto the right thing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before I leave you today, I was given another few awards this week. Some of you must really be enjoying my once a week blogging (though some of you have protested, wanting more. You greedy bastards) so I'll wrap those up in this awards ceremony.
Frst cab off the rank is an award I received whilst drafting last weeks blog. It's the "International Bloggers Community" award, and I think is for being from a different country to the person who gave it to you. Yes, I had to work hard for this one.
Now for the Q & A that comes with it. 1. The person who tagged you: ChinkyGirlMel 2. His/her site's title and url: http://chinkygirlmel.blogspot.com/ 3. Date when you were tagged: May 17 2009 4. Bloggers you tagged: (to give this a truly international flavour, I'm immediately disqualifying anyone in the United States or the UK. Let's face it, those places are just like little Australia's)
And on a side note, for those of you still unfamiliar with ChinkyMel's work, head over to her blog and have a look around. You might remember a post a few months ago when I discussed inflaters and deflaters, well she is 100% an inflater. Her blog and her comments can brighten your day.
Then from PinkNic, who I have only recently started reading and who keeps me (and 200 odd other people) entertained with her regular "Wordless Wednesdays" and "Reader of the Week" every Sunday as well as posting entertaining tales on ever other day, and the girl in stiletto who is my peep, she is a sexy awesome doctor, and she is hilarious, I received...
Yes, it's the fabulous fucking blog award. Now, I hear snickering from around the globe, as some of you remember what I did last time I received this one. So, for those of you who are interested, go and read "In this Post I Say "Fuck" ninety-three times" That post was a favourite among my readers at the time (because I just told them it was) so if you feel like it, go back and enjoy.
And when I did that last week, I was told that is not the way I am supposed to treat the award the second time I get it. I am supposed to do it again. Well, I forget to mention PinkNic did give me a little something else...
That gives me the right to do as I please with the awards this week. And I think it's about time I was recognised for my constant spitting in the face of the cool kids who set the blogging rules. I'm sorry, did you say something about not posting on weekends?
There is a lyric in the song "Nothing Else Matters" which says
Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
I never cared for what they do
I never cared for what they know
which I think sums up the way I feel about cool kids everywhere (as well as people everywhere)
Anyway, that's enough ranting today. I will just point out to everyone that there is an award there about defying the blogging Gods. I think taking an award that wasn't given to you, would indeed defy the blogging Gods. So I'll just set today's awards down, turn around and face this way..
Wait! I'm going to throw a video at the bottom here. A few days ago Andhari put some of the funnier moments from Supernatural on her blog. I think, if you're going to talk funny Supernatural moments, you have to include...
This happened because Jared Padalecki who plays Sam (who you can hear laughing in the background) was supposed to tap the roof of the car as Jensen was playing his air drums, but it didn't happen, so Jensen just kept going.
Right now, with all the fuss about some blogger that a lot of people knew, trusted, followed and respected being found out plagiarising (you didn't hear? Well read about it here and here.. I won't go into details because I don't know anything about it other than what is in these two posts), I think to be seen to be honest in this bloggosphere is more important than ever.
Well, I'm going to start with a little honesty. I know I said last time I was going to put the awards / tagging thing on hold for awhile, but I can't find the motivation or inspiration to put my ideas into words at the moment. I still have plenty of ideas for future blogs, but when I start writing I look at what I've typed and think "That's rubbish! Absoloute bollocks! My readers surely will not stand for this sliding from the pedestal they have put me on!" (Why does my pedestal have a slide? I don't know. You built it and put me there)
But until I get past this wall, I'll continue to catch up on tags and awards. At least with them half the work is done for you. Plus if I keep writing eventually my creativity will come back.. right?
Continuing with the theme of honesty, my peep the girl in the stiletto shuffled the "Honest Scrap" award a few weeks ago.
"The HonestScrap award comes with a caveat or two. Firstly, you have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know, but that are true. Secondly, you have to tag 10 people with the award."
10 things.. let's do some of my injuries and near death experiences...
When I was about ten my family was having KFC one night, when I started to choke on a chicken bone. It took awhile for anyone to work out I wasn't goofing around, and when they did mum ran to the phone to call the ambulance. As soon as the person at the other end picked up I swallowed the bone. I really thought I would die then and there. My brothers wouldn't eat the rest of their meals after that, so dad and I finished it for them.
When I was about twelve we were riding around on my cousins motorcycles, and as time went by the confidence built. I went over one of their jumps and just kept going, ending up clotheslining myself on the barbedwire fence which cut the skin around my neck. My brothers didn't come over to see my injury, they ran back to the house to stir my parents into a panic while my uncle came over to help me up. We both had a good laugh about it.
Once in high school when we were playing soccer, I decided to play "chicken" with one of the big Samoan boys. It did not end well for me. He laughed and helped me up and said "I don't know what you were thinking man" and when I tried to reply no sound came out. I was pretty badly winded.
As young boys do I was climbing a tree in the front yard when I was about five years old and decided to climb higher than I had ever climbed before (there seems to be a theme in some of these injuries.. dangerous activity combined with a little bit of confidence). A branch gave way and I was in a sling for a few weeks.
Again, playing chicken, my friend was pulling out from beside the road and me and a group of friends were standing in front of him. He started revving the car and my friends ran out of the way, I moved a little bit knowing that if he turned the wheel he could comfortably go around me and merge back onto the road. He kept revving, and I stood my ground. He floored it, and I didn't move. I managed to get my timing right to jump onto the bonnet of his car just as it went under me. I bruised my pinky.
When playing cricket at a junior level on an awful rubber pitch, one of my teammates threw the ball at the wickets and missed and I was backing up on the other side. The ball hit the pitch and skidded up, knocking me silly. I ended up with a huge bruise on my forehead for the rest of the day, but come Monday when he wanted to show everyone at school what he had done, the bruise was mostly faded.
Playing the silly games boys play, I pushed my friends head into the brick wall when he was drinking from a water fountain one day and bolted back to my locker. I don't know why I thought I was safe there, he arrived just behind me and pushed me head first into the locker cutting my forehead open. I got to go home early that day. And I have a scar from this.
On the same foot as the scar I showed you in the past, the middle toe often goes numb and stings a little bit. When my parents were renovating their kitchen they had ripped the pantry out and one day the dog was standing behind my dad who turned around and almost tripped over her. She ran across the kitchen and into the line I was walking and I went around her and shredded my toe on exposed nails.
I also have a scar on my finger. Right now, I can't remember how I got that.
My "old sports injury" That's all I ever refer to it as, and you are going to be among the few people in the world who now know what that means. When I was playing totem tennis at a friends house I started to jump around and get a little crazy and over the top. The ground was rough and uneven, and eventually I ended up landing funny and going down hard. I went to the doctor who had a look and gave me some anti-inflamatories and told me if that doesn't work within a month, go back and they'd have to operate on it. That was about 7 years ago now, and to this day it still feels weird, but I've never gone back. (This is the knee of the leg with the above mentioned foot)
With all the things I do to myself, it's not surprising one of the girls I work with keeps telling me she doesn't know how I've lived this long.
I might not award 10 people. I'll just start awarding and see how far we get. I'm going to award it to people who I think are raw and honest in their work. (and who I'm pretty sure don't have the award already).
There are others who deserve it, but I have tagged them recently and don't want to overload them with this stuff. If you don't mind copping another one however, let me know and I'll edit the post and throw your name on there.
I also got an award from D* recently which looks a little something like this.
This one didn't come with any rules or requirement to pass it on. It just came with bragging rights.
It seems I have mounted another few awards since the last ceremony. So, without rambling on, let's get this show started.
Both ChinkyGirLMeL and Thrice awarded me the Kreativ Blogger Award on the same day last week (and then Stephanie awarded it to me as I was drafting this post). I must have been doing something extra creative.. what was I up to again? Oh, that's right! Plotting to kill my neighbours. Well, I'm glad you girls enjoy a little violence with your blogging.
Now, Mel in particular put me under a lot of pressure when giving me this award. She said.. and I quote.. "He's very twisted! Lols! He likes to add a twist in memes and awards.".. SO now I have to put my own little twist on this so as not to disappoint the one of the generous givers of the award in the first place (althought I'm failing to think of anything creative this time.. when I get the creative award.. how unfortunate).
Here are the award rules: List 7 things that you love, and then pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you love! Be sure to tag them and let them know that they have won. You can copy the picture of the award and paste it on your sideboard letting the whole world know...you are Kreativ!
7 - I love the new intern, Denise, on Scrubs. If she were a real person, I may just give up my asexual ways for her and her "girl balls". I fell in love with her when she said her patients disease was "kind of a buzzkill"
6 - I love pizza. I could eat that all day and never feel full.
5 - I love the sharemarket. It's interesting to watch what sets people into a panic, what brings back their confidence and the different reports from different companies and what they do to the share price.
4- I love music. I remember having to play the guitar for a high school assignment and the teacher saying I have a gift for it, but I never took it up. And then we had some other test thing a few years later and the teacher said I had an ear for music and would find playing an instrument easy and wanted me in the band, but I never did it. I couldn't be bothered.
3 - As strange as it sounds, I love spinning into Matt. It's interesting to have a whole new thought process, a whole new outlook and to feel that sort of emotion to its fullest.
2 - I love seeing celebrities who have it all fuck up and walk away with nothing. I think of it as a case of "easy come, easy go"
1 - I love ... number one can wait. I will unveil it with my 100th blog. Something has happened I thought would never happen. I've fallen in love, and posting things I love felt like a good place to share that news with you. (And I know some of you considered me a tease for playing games and not sharing a picture so far.. I think you will probably be pissed with waiting 5 or so weeks for this as well)
Mel gave me another award in the same post (although she did give away a third award that day. The "Honest Scrap" award which I didn't get.. yes Mel.. I noticed =p I know where I stand now, good for 2 out of every three awards that people are giving away. )
Anyway, the one I did get was The Friend award
"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."
So, I have decided to pass this one on to these friendly blogging types:
Well, I can't think of any more than that without doubling up (and without giving it to Mel who gave it to me or insomniaclolita who won the awards when I did)
Finally, awhile ago I was given the Cute award (also by Mel) and at the time, I didn't realise there was a task that comes with it. Sameera gave me the award again this week, and it turns out I'm suppose to list 10 things that make me cute. So here we go:
10 - My winning smile 9- My charm 8- The way I walk 7- The way I talk 6- My kind spirit (most of the time.. quite a lot of the time..) 5- Your mum will think I'm great 4- I am that innocent 3- I will work hard to make you smile 2- As a coworker so often puts it, I really am "the last of the true gentlemen" 1- The fact that you all keep returning
I reward this award to everyone who got it last time so they can also correct the error of their ways, as well as insomniaclolita because her new layout is fantastic.
Shotgun Betty stoppin' dead in my shoes. Cock on lockdown, she said learn the damn alphabet. I come before you, get to payin' your dues.
Head down through the town diggin on this puscifer, Tongue roll call, kids hear the school bell ring. This vagina mine teach ya patient diligence. Keep the chain-gang swingin, make a cat-bird sing. Down this vagina mine... Puscifer- Vagina Mine
And in case you're wondering what song called "Vagina Mine" sounds like..
I have been sitting on two awards for awhile. One for a month, one for about two weeks. I know, I'm wonderful, and I'm so over awards *yawn* (just joking, awards are great, they make me feel loved)
One is for being fabulous, the other for being cute. So I ask you this my pets, which would you rather be? Fabulous, or cute? Well, luckily for you, you don't get to decide. I do. So here we go...
Award #1 - Fabulous!
I received this award from Thrice of "From the STUPIDEST corner of my mind..." a month ago. Yes, I've been keeping it to myself ever since. Selfishly clinging to it in a desperate attempt to feel important. To spice things up a bit (nothing is ever for free) recipients are supposed to list 5 addictions, so here we go (I doubt there'll be many surprises here)
* The music of Maynard James Keenan. Whether it be Tool, A Perfect Circle or Puscifer, the man is talented and his music always makes me happy. The lyrics especially are a work of genius.
* My niece AJ's smile. Whenever she's around I work so hard to make her smile or laugh. A story from last time I saw her, I was piggybacking her around my parents back yard but, because my weight is still slowly disappearing, my pants were very loose and falling down (they don't have belt loops) I emptied my pockets on top of a cabinet just out of her reach and went and got one of her balls. She wasn't interested in that, she was standing by the cabinet pointing to the things I had left there.
So I picked her up where she could reach them. First my phone. She grabbed it from the cabinet, I put her down and she gave it back to me. Then my keys, same thing, she grabbed them and gave them back to me. Lastly my wallet.. although she wasn't giving that one back. She is smart, and she kept it.
* Reading. I love to read. It's interesting to journey through the different worlds as the words escape the page and enter my mind.
* The Essendon Football Club. Sure, I know most of you are probably thinking "Of course, a guy and sports." Well it's a tad different for me. For a long time I didn't care about sport. I think I mentioned in a previous post I stopped playing sport at a young age and I really didn't care about it, instead deciding to do well in my education. Dad stopped talking to me for years after I stopped playing sport.
But, it's because I've allowed to become interested in sport again and because Dad and I happen to support the same team and started going to games together that we were able to reconnect. If we didn't have that, we probably still wouldn't be talking.
* Dexter. You all knew it was coming. The TV show, the books, the man, I just can't get enough. I know some people don't get it and only see the "capital punishment" (which it totally isn't.. capital punishment requires the criminal to be convicted of an offence, Dexter kills people who managed to slip through the holes of the legal system and makes sure they get the punishment they're due) side of the show. Well, if they were willing to look a little deeper, they might see something they enjoy.
Now it's time to give this award to five other fabulous bloggers.
Missed out that time? Maybe you'll have more luck with...
Award #2 - Cute!
ChinkyGirLMel of ChinkyMel's corner gave me this award about two weeks ago due to my new super duper know you wish you had one just like it layout. This time the catch is.. wait.. there.. doesn't appear to be any catch?
So, I guess I'll just pass this one to five bloggers who either have an awesome layout (not quite as awesome as my own of course, that would be quite impossible) or an awesome banner (again, not as good as my own, but good nonetheless[and no I'm not letting these awards go to my head]) or post in a cute manner. So the five recipients of this award are...
Some of you could have won both awards. Some who didn't get an award I left off because I've given them awards before and wanted to mix this up a little bit.
So congratulations to all of those who won awards, and to those who didn't, keep blogging away and you never know your luck in the bloggosphere.
Wake up son o' mine Momma got somethin' to tell you Cchanges come Life will have its way With your pride, son Take it like a man Puscifer- Momma Sed
I am fucking(1) wonderful. I won my second fucking(2) award. It made me step back for a moment and think "What the fuck(3)?", but then the fuckin(4) penny dropped that maybe some fuckers(5) out there enjoy the fuckin(6) bullshit I write on this fuckin(7) thing.
Hillbilly Duhn happens to be the fucker(8) who enjoys it enough to pass on the award. You can read her fuckin(9) stuff here. Funny as all fuck(10). Read it, and you can fuckin(11) thank me later.
As always, there's a bunch of fuckin(12) things the recipient of this award must do. First, put a picture of the fucker(13) on your blog. Well, that's the fucking(14) thing up the top there. Take a fuckin(15) gander at that would you?
Next thing the amazing fuckers(16) that recieve the "Fabulous Fucking(17)" blog award are to do, whether they fucking(18) like it or not, is to fuckin(19) list ten fuckin (20) truths about them fucking(21) selves. Let's fucking (22) begin.
1 - When I was fucking (23) about 15 I fucking(24) stopped playing fucking(25) football and fucking (26) cricket. My fucking(27) Dad stopped fucking(28) stopped talking to me like I'd fucking(29) let him down and he didn't fucking(30) talk to me a fucking(31) again until I was fucking(32) 18 and fucking(33) making something of my fucking(34) self academically.
2- I fucking (35) hate public fucking(36) speaking, but apparently I'm pretty fucking(37) good at it, even though I notice a fucking(38) nervousness and fucking(39) stuttering when I'm in the fucking(40) spotlight.
3- I only started fucking(41) working for the fucking(42) employer I'm fucking(43) working for now, because no other fucker(44) would give me a fucking(45) chance. This fucking(46) job was suppossed to be fucking(47) temporary until I fucking(48) finished University. That was four fucking(49) years ago.
4- When I was in my late fucking(50) teens and early fucking(51) twenites I was a fucking(52) asshole who only fucking(53) looked out for him fucking(54) self. Fuckers(55) loved me back then. And I fucking(56) hated the fucking(57) attention.
5- I've been to a fucking(58) WWE live show
6- I've done over $10,000 fucking(59) damage in fucking(60) car crashes
7- I fucking (61) hate being fucking(62) touched
8-I'm fucking(63) already at a fucking(64) age where I don't fucking(65) know any new music
9- After this post, I still have 25 fucking(66) truths left to share (which I'll do tomorrow).
10- Even though it fucking(67) wasn't part of the "Fabulous Fucking(68) blog" award to fucking(69) curse like a fucking(70) sailor, I thought I'd have some fucking(71) fun. Besides, it's not that fucking(72) hard for a fucking(73) Australian to fucking(74) swear. We'll fucking(75) swear at you while we give you fucking(76) directions. "Main street? Fuck(77) yeah, I know where that is. What you wanna fuckin(78) do is fuckin(79) go straight up here, take a fuckin(80) lefty at the second intersection, keep fuckin(81) goin until you hit the round about, then hang a fuckin(82) righty and you're there."
Now I have to award the "Fabulous Fucking(83) blog" award to five other fuckers(84) (and if you've already fucking(85) got it I ain't fucking(86) giving it to you again). So, in no fucking(87) order:
Just when I think I'm running out of things to write about, one of you, my lovely pets, gives me something. Whether it be inspiration, an idea, or as in this case, an award.
The lovely Thrice was kind enough to select me for the "Lemonade Award" (no, it is not tradeable for a Pepsi award, I asked). These are the rules. In order to accept this award, I must...
1. Thank the person who was so thoughtful for giving you this award by linking their blog to this post. - Thanks Ace! Luv you!
2. Put the logo on your blog or post. - It's above. Isn't it pretty?
3. Nominate 10 blogs which show great attitude/gratitude. - See below
4. Link your nominees to your post. - See below
5. Comment them to tell them about the award they've won. - No. They will have to read this post to see they won.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll do all ten. I'll just go through as many as I want to. (Oh dear, how ever will I plug these blogs when I've had so little practice?)
Firstly, my long lost little sister (you are going to regret ever saying that) yourstruly100 from "Everyday is a little life". You've given me some ideas for some great posts, and I have returned the favour. I also love your idea for the "Peace Centers"
Next, Stephanie from "Breathing up the Oxygen" I always love reading your blog to see what you and your smelly dog are up to.
Badriyyah at "Life Through My Eyes", my partner on the tandem story. I've mentioned before how great your blog is, I don't need to do it again (but it is great)
Patti Ann and your tales of an Actor in New York told at "i love this city always" are always interesting. You also get an award.
Random Hiccups at "Slave to the Ordinary", yours is one of the first blogs I stumbled on to and I enjoyed it so much I stuck around.
And Hillbilly Duhn, although I only recently stumbled on to your blog, "Hillbilly Duhn's Trials & Tribulations", I am enjoying it so much I know I will stick around.
EcK from "Somethings Wrong With This Guy", your blog is often loaded with useful information, or if not that, interesting tales.
And finally D* from "I'm having a moment", you may never read this so you may not ever know you won, but you did introduce me to the blogger site and to 20 something bloggers. Without her influence none of you would be here, enjoying my wonderful blog as much as you do. You have her to thank (or blame).
That's enough. I think I got eight. Near enough to 10, yes? I don't think I missed anyone, but I probably did. Well, if I'm ever giving out these things again, you might get one next time.
