thisis Wordless Wednesday #2- Help!

Yes, it's Wordless Wednesday again, which means I talk and you all SHUT UP!... I mean, sit quietly and listen. There's a good reader.

Hello ScoFans!

Remember a few weeks ago when I posted that list of things we hate, and I hinted there was a lot of ScoPoints on offer?

So congratulations to Nic for showing the rest of you losers that a little Scrubs knowledge goes a long way. She just won herself a bazillion ScoPoints. Had she added "How dare you?" it would have been a bajillion.

Why does my spell check accept "Bazillion" but not "Bajillion"?

Oh well.

Anyway, enough of that, now I need your help.

Yes, that's right, I just called you losers and now I want something from you. If there was some magic button I could press to take back the horrible things I said I would, but unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, no such button exists, so we'll just have to leave it be and move on.

I have recently started drinking tea at work, and as such I need some fancy cup which says "Leave me the hell alone".. but not "I'm an asshole so feel free to treat me like one".

Oh, and it should also say "Dexter is an awesome show".

I've narrowed it down to these three..

"Normal people are so hostile."

"Human bonds always lead to complications. Commitment. Sharing. Driving people to the airport."

"So I hear a rumor you're tracking all our internet activity. So is it true? 'Cause I can explain all that she-male stuff".

Okay, so I lied about the last one. I am going to get that for our IT guy for Christmas though. The mug says it in words I never could.

So anyway, what I need you to do is kindly cast your vote at the polly thingy over there, and shape what my coworkers think of me.

It might be obvious from this post I really don't care what they think of me.

Thinking of you always, (kindly.... most of the time)

February Stars #2 - OmegaRadium

Hello ScoFans!

Remember you can check out Daisy, the last February star here. Not a lot of people got there the other day. Go now. Don't make me hurt you.

Today's post is interesting. It's interesting in that.. I haven't read it. I have no idea what he talks about. He could be saying all sorts of mean stuff about me in there. But, when he started with a warning about Dexter Series 4 spoilers, I had to close my eyes and look the other way. And then I realised I could just close the window, which was hard to do with my eyes closed.

I will tell you though he is a great blogger. His posts are always interesting and he is great with words. But again, I'll let the post speak for itself. So here he is.. OmegaRadium...

*****DEXTER Season 4 SPOILER ALERT!!*****

Hello ScoFans!

I'm OmegaRadium from the "Differential Diagnosis" blog and I'm here to deliver a special message to the readers. Despite what ScoMan may want you to believe, not all of us on the blogosphere are super models blogging in our spare time away from the New York & Paris runways. Well, at least not initially...

Your browser may not support display of this image.

I don't believe I was ever a super attractive kid by any means. Sporting a Jim Carey “bowl cut” from “Dumb & Dumber” for much of my pre-high school years certainly didn't win me any fashion awards!

Throughout high school, I found myself lacking in my clothing style, my hairstyle, and even my smile, which in turn affected my confidence. Of course, I was completely clueless how I would remedy these issues, until I met this one girl. Sure, she broke my heart, but before all the heartache and tears, she cared enough about me to help set me straight and mold me into what would eventually become a better man.

As our love slowly blossomed over the years, so did my style. I ditched the glasses, changed my hair, and began wearing more "acceptable" clothes. The change wasn’t just physical, I mentally felt more confident and as a result, I slowly came out of my shell. I felt great, like a new person, and many of the same girls who wouldn't give the old me the time of day before, suddenly wanted to "get to know me better."

Nothing boosts a man's confidence more than having to turn down/reject a female's advances, especially one whom he'd have given anything to attract just years prior.

One of the most important things I've learned from these helping females is to, "MAKE AN EFFORT" to be who you want to be. When you make an effort to look nice, people will notice. Little things such as ironing your clothes, keeping your hair nice and neat, moisturizing, trimmed nails, and a clean shaven face can go a long way.

I guess the main point of this post is to thank all the females reading this for the time & effort they've put into helping their own boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, and any other men in their lives, towards becoming a better man. It's because of you caring females that this former "nerd" has evolved into a more "date-able" bachelor.

Why do I bring this up? Well, thanks to several of my friend's recommendations, and ScoMan's constant tweeting & blogging about Dexter, I finally gave in and started Dexter Season 1. Two months later, I finish watching Dexter Season 4.

*****DEXTER Season 4 SPOILER ALERT!!*****
IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED DEXTER SEASON 4, STOP READING NOW!
*****DEXTER Season 4 SPOILER ALERT!!*****

The realization of Rita’s untimely death at the hands of the “Trinity" killer truly broke my heart. Rita, like most women, just wanted what was best for her man. She helped bring Dexter out of his shell and slowly morphed him from a recluse into a full blown family man. Not your typical family man mind you, but she played a huge role in improving his quality of life nonetheless.

Sure the heartbreak sucked, and we may never truly get over it, but in the end, these caring women give us so much more than they could ever take by paving the way for us to become better men, and in turn have even better relationships in the future. So, thanks ladies! Rest in peace Rita Morgan.

Thanks for making your man a better man!

Yes I did press enter like 10 times to make sure I didn't read any of the end of the post. It's weird posting an entry here that I know nothing about. But I do know about his post "Dodging Bullets" that I quite enjoyed.

Thanks again OmegaRadium. I'm sure the post was brilliant.

I'll read it next Thursday, I promise.

Tune in on Sunday for my next February Star. Until then, make sure you check out the two already featured. Oh, and don't forget you can still contribute to the "Drunken Blogger" thing at the top of the screen.

Throwing in the towel

Hello ScoFans!

Long time followers will know that I don't like failure. If I set out to accomplish something, then I accomplish it.. usually.

Today I had a simple goal for the last day of my holidays. To create a v-log (like e-media, not vlog.. like.. well..blog). Well, okay to give this place a bit of a general tidy up and then to create a v-log.

Well, after about two hours of trying my webcam and getting nowhere (it would just cut out half way through) I tried my digital camera. The first time round, the batteries died. Then when I did get it done and on the computer it was super blurry. Like, super really blurry.

So I guess what I'm saying is, I didn't fail. Stars, planets, clouds and monkies aligned which meant that it was destiny there will be no v-log here today. I might be great, but even I can't beat destiny.

So I guess what I'll do is provide you now with a brief summary of what I touched on in the awesome v-log that died somewhere between my camera and the internet.

Firstly I talked about how it's the first time in 20 years I've worn jeans. I don't like jeans. They're uncomfortable. I may never wear jeans again. I don't know why I bought them.

But when I did buy them, I was leaving the change room with the jeans and two pairs of pants in my left hand and my phone, wallet and keys in my right hand. I was about to open the door but I thought "I'll put my stuff in my pocket first", reached down and no pocket. I'd left the pants I'd worn to the store on the chair in the change room. So close to walking back out into the store in my underwear.. lucky for them, I pulled up in time.

Secondly, I thanked Nic from PinkNics Planet for deciding my comments were witty enough to award me a prize in her giveaway a month or two ago. Here's the cool stuff she sent me.

It's no secret I'm a huge Dexter fan, and I think Dexter Coasters must be one of the few Dexter items I hadn't got my hands on. Well, now I do, and my hands are happy.

But as much as I loved the coasters, it was the card that really got me.

I'm not sure what she's trying to say there. I'm just going to assume she's saying that I'm great, and not that I'm arrogant.

Then I talked about how JustSal from Just My Thoughts allowed me to have a read over her NanoWriMo novel over the holidays, which was very rad of her. Although I am anxiously awaiting the conclusion at the moment, maybe when it's finished I'll write up a review of it. Maybe. If she allows it. I haven't discussed it with her yet.

Point the fourth that I touched on was that I had been planning the v-log for a long time, and I had to cut certain things as time went on. One of the things I cut was the opening scene (oh yeah, it had scene's, that's how good it was) in which I was going to have a bunch of aliens surrounding me making a lot of noise and I was trying to get them to be quiet so I could do the v-log and they wouldn't and so to get them to be quiet, I gave them some Soylent Green.

But then because of the whole KFC Fiasco I thought that would be in poor taste, and so that scene got pulled. I know a lot of people aren't familiar with the KFC Fiasco. For example it seems like in England it wasn't a big story, but research showed that in America you probably won't know about it but your mother will. So if you want to, you can research it or if you can't be bothered researching, you can just assume KFC is serving Soylent Green now.

What I didn't do in the v-log was give you a look at the video that was pulled from Australian television because Internationally it was deemed racist...

In KFC's defense, that stereotype doesn't really exist in Australia. But I'm glad the ad is gone. That guy is such a tool.

The other thing I didn't do in the v-log was mention that I'm starting a new weekly segment on Tuesday called "thisisTuesday". One of you has volunteered to be the first participant. You don't know you've volunteered yet. You don't even have to do anything. Tune in Tuesday to see if it's you.

The last thing I did was give you a little nursery rhyme thing that my niece loves, and I'm sure your nieces, nephews, children and just random children from the neighbourhood will love as well.

Simple Simon met a pieman
Playing with a knife
The pieman said to Simple Simon
"Can I take your life?"
Said Simple Simon to the pieman
"When the time is right"
The pieman said to Simple Simon
"Then you'll die tonight"

I guess that's it. My holidays are over. Time to stop grinning like a fucking psycho and get back to work.

For those of you who haven't seen my other video post you can check out the time I lip synced to Eminem so that the whole thing wasn't a tease. And for those who have seen it, relive it why not?

I hate linking back to old posts, but I had to give you something...

ScoMan's third day of giving

Hello ScoFans!

Day three and I'm beginning to realise why I don't usually post on weekdays. I guess we're all just lucky there's nothing good on TV tonight or I would have failed right here and now, and I know you would hate to see me fail.

Although a new dilemma has entered the mix, because I can only think of one other award that is floating out there, and with two days to go.. well I'm sure you can see the problem. If you've given me an award I haven't accepted, let me know.

This award comes to me from over at "365 days of people"

Here I am complaining about blogging four days in a row, Nomad blogs a lot more days in a row than that. 361 more days in fact. If you haven't checked out his blog yet take the time. He writes about a different group every day, usually pointing out their flaws and trying to help them be better people, although lately he has gone a bit soft (he claims it's because of the holiday season. I personally think when you spew hate over the web for more than 100 days eventually it's going to all disappear and you'll be nicer to everyone)

I'm not sure what the rules are for this one. He wrote about 10 individuals that make him happy. I could do the same.. nay, I will do the same! (I doubt there'll be many surprises for most of you though.)

1- Dexter
Obvious first cab off the rank, for reasons I've made all too clear here in the past.

2- AJ
Love spending time with my niece, and looking forward to seeing her over Christmas.

3- Jigsaw
Love his mind games. Love the way he makes the world a better place.

4- Nathan Fillion
He makes Twitter a better place

5- Dr Horrible
Another great role model for the kids.

6- Joss Whedon
A bit of a trend developing, but I'm too tired to think too hard.

7- Me
Without me, I couldn't be happy. Mostly because I wouldn't exist, but mostly because I'm pretty awesome.

8- Tina Fey
Has providing me with many laughs for many years.

9- Dante
Looking forward to the video game

10- Maynard James Keenan
Fantastic musician.

Okay, now to pass this on in the method we are all becoming accustomed to..

Three prize senders
Two laughing latte's
One oxygen giver upper

Until tomorrow, as this maddness rolls on.

Trapped into new experiences

Hello ScoFans!

Well, my streak as the kiss of death continues and the person who was going to write this week isn't feeling the creativity flow at this point in time, so you'll have to wait a little bit longer for the end of the story. In the meantime I'll continue to entertain you as best I can.

As those of you following me on Twitter know, I had to attend a work function last night. One that I wasn't too keen on attending. I wasn't sure exactly what it was about. All I knew is, I had to show up in "After Five" wear and that the meal was free (which was enough to get me there)

I was, as always, one of the first to arrive (I don't do fashionably late) so I grabbed a coke and sat at my table and waited for my coworkers to arrive. After about 20 minutes as the table started to fill, I realised some of the coworkers I would have liked to share a table with were going to be on a different table which was a tad disappointing.

Before proceedings there were people running around taking pictures of everyone. One of my coworkers and I had to get our pictures taken about 6 times because we looked "too pale" in each picture. We agreed that was probably because we are pale, which is probably because we hate outside.

We looked at the entrees that were served to us and had trouble determining what most of it was (I did work out that the lemon was lemon, which makes me pretty awesome) I decided I wasn't eating any of it until my demands were met:
  • a list of ingredients in each item
  • a discussion with the chef to ensure their competency
  • our MasterChef judge Matthew Preston try everything and give me his evaluation of each thing on the menu
I'm not a picky eater.. but I'm not going to eat anything unless I know what it is I'm putting in my mouth (a lesson we could all learn from Mel's last blog)

My boss, who had organized the whole thing, stood up before dinner to tell us what we were all there for. He told us it was to be a discussion about how wonderful the "Baby Boomers" are. How much they have done for this country. How this country has been changed across the ages to accommodate them. First more primary schools when they reached primary school age. Then secondary schools being built as they reached that age. And now, to his horror, nursing homes being constructed at a rate faster than ever before.

He said he had lined up a group of speakers for us to help the baby boomers maintain their power and control, and keep Generation X in the background "where they belong"

He had a school principal who was going to give the speech "It's probably my fault"

A lawyer who specialises in succession planning who was going to read from us from his thesis "You can't take what you can't find"

And a Gen-X nurse who was going to talk up the benefit of kerosene baths.

Then, dinner was served. Dinner was nice but the veggies were a bit raw.

Somehow, dinner conversation turned to my coworkers trying to send me on holidays, preferably overseas. It's funny, mum has been saying the same thing to me lately. Maybe there's a message in that? Maybe my coworkers and family no longer welcome me? That's okay, it's not like people usually spent a lot of time around their coworkers and family anyway right?

First we were talking Middle East, because the V8s are racing there next year. That was my idea. Unfortunately, if I am going to take a holiday my input into any decision doesn't count for much. That idea was shot down and before I knew it I was being sent to London. I'm not sure why, other than because that's where one of my coworkers went when she was 19 and apparently I should be doing everything the way she did it.

She also told me about a car museum I have to go and see at Donnington (I think?). I could see cars in the Middle East too, and they would be driving, but hey.. whatever. Apparently "speaking English" should be high on my list of what to look for in the country I'm visiting on my first time overseas.

I kept insisting that I'm not a traveler and she said neither was her husband before she met him, but she soon sorted him out and showed him the world.

"Maybe that's what I need to start traveling. A significant other"
"Yes. Someone to drag you away from your comfort zone and give you some experiences"
"No. Someone to run away from because they make my comfort zone a lot less comfortable"

That joke was a big hit with the guys, not so much with their wives.

After dinner my boss stood up again and said he was going to now go to the "interactive" part of the evening. He asked everyone to pull their seats right in so that he could move around the room and point to people, and when he pointed they had to contribute.

People did this, and then he sat down.

And then the opera singers came down the stairs.

And I was trapped.. on the far side of the room from the exits.. about 70 people between me and the door.. my back to the wall literally and figuratively speaking. Plus I had just had roast beef so was feeling very sluggish and in no mood to try a speedy and cunning escape. In fact, I felt more like napping.

So I sat through it. It wasn't even one opera.. it was like Opera's Greatest Hits as selected by the boss. The highlight during the first session was when one of the girls was singing a romantic song and moving around the room rubbing against men, and she moved to our table and behind one of the other guys not into the opera at all and as he thought he was safe from her he said "Thank G.."

What he didn't realise is that she'd paused behind him and was looking at the back of his head. Her arm shot over his shoulder and started rubbing his chest while the rest of us enjoy a good laugh at his expense.

Desert rolled around and we got a break from the music. Conversation turned to a book one of the women was reading which says Australia is in a "man drought".. at the key ages women usually get married, there is a serious shortage of men in that same age bracket (hear that single guys? Having no luck, come to Australia and increase your odds!)

She convinced the single girl at our table to get out and meet new people, but then told me I still have to go to London. I'm not sure what she was implying, but I think it might be that English girls are easy.

How would I know? I never go anywhere. *Looks to Nic for input on the topic*

Who needs to go places when you have blog friends to fill you in on what's happening over there?

After desert, more singing and I guess the important thing to come out of the evening is that I survived it. Not only that, I kind of enjoyed it. I do remember promising a blogger going to see Moulin Rouge with them after Dexter did it in "Dexter By Design", and I guess this was like training wheels for something like that. I would have much rathered if they were singing Dr Horrible tunes (I did spend part of the night choreographing in my mind how one would set up different Dr Horrible scenes in the restaurant, but you make the best out of what you're given.

The evening ended with them singing happy birthday to the boss, which for him would be an amazing experience. The look of joy on his face through the whole evening was great.

Until Friday...

Born To Try

Hello ScoFans!

An Australian philosopher once said "I was born to try", and I've lately realised that those few words could well have been written by or about yours truly.

I will start by taking you on a tour of my trophy cabinet, before we arrive at the recent even which has awoken this realisation in me.

WHAT IS IT?
Under 13s Fielding award (Cricket)

WHAT'S IT FOR?
Catching, throwing.. stopping the ball. All the stuff which in those days,
didn't really mean anything and wasn't recognised as important to the team.

HOW DOES IT PROOVE YOUR POINT?

In my eyes, the fielding award always went to the kid who couldn't do anything
else. There were lots of awards for batting well. Plenty of awards for the bowlers.
The fielding award just went to the other kid who had no real talent, but tried at least.

Next stop on the carousel..

WHAT ARE THEY?
Under 14 Coaches Award (Cricket)
Under 13 Coaches Award (Football)

WHAT ARE THEY FOR?
Always attending training. Listening to the coaches instructions.
Behaving myself and again and of course, giving 100%.

HOW DO THEY PROOVE YOUR POINT?
Again, I think these were just the trophies to make sure no
kid missed out on a trophy. Because that's the world we live
in now, you can't separate the good players from the bad.
Everyone has to get SOMETHING. So yep, two more trophies
just for turning up and trying not to suck.

And before we get to the real point of this post...

WHAT IS IT?
A horse's arse.

NO, REALLY. WHAT IS IT?
Really... a horse's arse.

... OKAY. WHAT'S IT FOR?
Last place in the 2002 Teenage bowling league.

HOW DOES...
Please tell me you don't really require an explanation this
time.

AND NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT...

A few months ago now Alyssa from "Just Putting It Out There" played a game with a prize. Head over there, it was a caption competition and those of us who entered had a blast.

Anyway, I didn't win. PrimA won (and after enjoying her blog posts for awhile I'm starting to not want to see her attacked by spider monkies any more. At least, less than I did before) But as you may have guessed Alyssa was awesome enough to send me a prize for trying the most ..which I think technically means I get a prize for losing more than anybody else.. BUT I don't care about the technicalities because what I do have is that great Dexter picture you see above you.

She mentioned in the letter than came with it she knew I loved Dexter and wasn't sure what I had, and, well, I don't like to brag but...

And now with some fantastic original artwork to add to the mix, well that means there's nothing more a Dexter fan could want (until the new book and next DVD series come out).. (and for those of you thinking "Aren't there four Dexter books?", that book on the left is the first three books in one book)

So thank you again Alyssa. I'm just sorry it took me so long to finally show off my prize to the world.

And now it's time for a few confessions. A few things that I omitted from the above bit.

Firstly, my first place and second place trophy from 10 pin bowling (from 2000 and 2001.. I changed teams in 2002 hence the drop to the bottom)

And lastly I wrote a post awhile ago for a competition Hillbilly Duhn was putting on. Well, out of all the people that entered she picked my piece to win the great prize on offer. She sent out two books (which I will read when I finish the 800+ page beast I started just before receiving them.. 400 pages down.. 400+ to go)

Angels and Demons (Robert Langdon's First Adventure)
I'm looking forward to them.

Make sure you head over and check out both Hillbilly Duhn and Alyssa's blogs.

Until Friday...

ScoMan's Gotta Do What ScoMan's Gotta Do...

Hello ScoFans!

Well, it's October 31st, do you know what that means?

Yup! It's my parents anniversary.

And it's today I've found a whole new respect for my father. For my mum's birthday in August he got her tickets to go and see John Farnham, who just happened to be performing on their anniversary. For those of you unfamiliar with John Farnham, women of "a certain age" love him, men everywhere despise him. But dad's going to endure it all for mum. Good on him.

That might not seem like much to most of you, but as someone who won't even go and see a movie with friends if it's got Will Ferrell in it (I know, there's been a lot of Ferrell bashing here lately) , sitting through a concert of someone you don't like for somebody else? .. Well that's just not something I would ever see myself doing. (Am I selfish? Yes)

Anyway, on with the REAL purpose of today's post..

Today is Halloween... everywhere in the world except in Australia and maybe some parts of the middle east. We don't celebrate it here. We never have. But after reading all of your blogs about Halloween and what you would be dressing as, it got me excited, and so I started the poll...

Seven votes for Dexter, with his nearest competition being two for "Supervillian".

Now normally, it'd be a no brainer, Dexter for sure.. but to the two of you who selected Supervillain perhaps you have friended me on Facebook, because you know I've had a different obsession lately.

After all, does Dexter have a blog?

No, he doesn't.

And long time followers will know I am a huge fan of the musical episode of Scrubs, so a supervillain with a musical blog.. now that's just.. wow...

But where could one find such a thing?

I think this year, I would totally be Dr Horrible.

With quotes like "The worlds a mess and I just have to rule it" and a side kick with the power to make things damp, Dr Horrible is a villain every one with dreams of world domination can look up to.

And it's not like the costume would be all that hard, which is great for those of us with short attention spans. And I do have a wicked smirk in my range, which any super villain would be proud of.

But then I ask myself, am I really a villain? Besides, the seagulls have already started activated their plans for world domination, so I may have missed the boat on that one.

So maybe I take the path of good. It comes with it's own rewards (even if ruling the world isn't one of them, there's still.. umm.. being admired and loved.. which is okay.. I guess. It'll have to do anyway). Maybe I play the hero of the tale, Captain Hammer.

With quotes like "Everyone can blaze a heroes trail, don't worry if it's hard, if you're not a friggin' 'tard you'll prevail" and the fact that he looks suspiciously like Nathan Fillion who I have already mentioned is one of my favourite actors, I guess there would be no shame in playing this hero.

But the difficult question still looms over my head. Am I a hero, or am I a villain? Which would be better suited to my first Halloween, should I have partaken in Halloween activities this year?

Well, before you decide which role you see me playing, you can watch this and then make your decision...

Well, hero or villain.. either way you get the groupies..

But maybe I don't have to decide between being a hero and being a villain. Maybe there's a reason I'm not sure which side of the line I'm one. Maybe I can walk the fine line between the two. What do they call that again?

Oh, that's right... "The Dexter Line"... (Wow, this blog just turned 360 degrees.. kind of)

"Am I a good person doing bad things? Or a bad person doing good things?"
Dexter Morgan

So ScoFans, what are you doing for Halloween? (those of you lucky enough to celebrate it)

And are you a hero? Or are you a villain?

For those of you who are interested (and why wouldn't you be?) I believe the three acts of Dr Horrible are all available on YouTube, or for those of you in America they're on the official website. Best 43 minutes you'll spend today.

Things other people said

Hello ScoFans!

I just want to start this post by congratulating James Courtney in his race win today (pictured on the right) He was fast yesterday, qualified at the front and then his car had a failure. He hasn't won since moving to Dick Johnson racing and they had big plans yesterday but unfortunately they didn't eventuate. Today, everything came together and it made up for the pain the team and their fans felt yesterday. It's the first win for the team in about a year, so it was nice.

Why did I use that picture if he's a racing car driver? Because most of my readers are female, and they don't care about my motor sport ramblings, so I gave them something to look at (at least I think he's an attractive guy). And if they do care about motor sport, well then it's a nice bonus for them.

Oh, and yes, he is married.

Anyway, that race win capped off what was a wonderful weekend. My Tweetledees might have seen on Friday I was looking forward to seeing my niece AJ over the weekend and I had a fantastic time with her. She's growing all the time and getting smarter and learning new things.

And she loves her uncle. Because he's a softy who can't say no to her.

When I was leaving today dad was holding on to her and she reached out to me and mum said "I think she wants a kiss goodbye" so I walked back to kiss her and she let go of dad and threw her arms around my neck and started screaming when I tried to give her back to dad. It was heartbreaking, but I'll see her again soon. She's just too young to understand that.

On to today's post.

Today I'm going to share some of the quotes I was going to share just before the 100th post when you were all voting. Do you miss voting? Well, if so, you'll see you have an opportunity to do it again. And it's special, because next week I'm doing seven posts in seven days. I will only do this ONCE, so the post that loses the vote will disappear forever.

Here come the quotes..

"In this dirty-minded world, she thought, you are either some body's wife or some body's whore — or fast on your way to becoming one or the other. If you don't fit either category, then everyone tries to make you think there is something wrong with you. But, she thought, there is nothing wrong with me."
The World According to Garp - John Irving

"When I was very young once I saw a variety act on TV. A man put a bunch of plates on the end of a series of supple rods, and kept them in the air by whipping the rods to spin the plates. And if he slowed down or turned his back even for a moment, one of the plates would wobble and then crash to the ground, followed by all the others in series.

That's a terrific metaphor for life, isn't it? We're all trying to keep our plates spinning in the air, and once you get them up there you can't take your eyes off them and you have to keep chugging along without rest. Except that in life, somebody keeps adding more plates, hiding the rods and changing the law of graving when you're not looking. And so every time you think you have all your plates spinning nicely, suddenly you hear a hideous clattering crash behind you and a whole row of plates you didn't even know you had begins to hit the ground"
Dexter in the Dark- Jeff Lindsay

"We've had a quick car all weekend and we were just getting away from the field and we dropped to seven cylinders and we were still putting down fast times but when we dropped to six cylinders on the second lap that was it. But I guess that's the sport we're in, it's cruel and that's what makes it entertaining so I hope the people at home have at least been entertained by all this"
James Courtney

I'm taking a few moments to speak on behalf of our fallen adversary...Forgive me Space Goblin, if it were not for the novice level setting and the 10 cups of coffee I had earlier today you might have bested me this day in the Marsh of Gothrick. We're not that different, you and I, despite your arm mounted canon and insatiable taste for human flesh... — Janitor
"You realize that while you're talking his alien friends are shooting you in the face, right?" — Turk
"Well that is just rude." - Janitor

Scrubs- My Hard Labor (series 7 episode 2)

And even yours truly has been quoted on a Facebook friends site..

"I got not annoying. Which is apparently annoying in itself. So while I wasn't annoying, my non annoyingness became annoying"
Scotty (I've never lol'd so much in my life)

Finally, I have a few things from some of my blogging buddies to mention (and some of them are favours to ask of my readers).

First, if you could go here and download Ndeesaster's song "Got The Feeling" I know it would mean a lot to her. I'm not a huge hip hop fan, I don't mind a little bit occasionally, but I do love her stuff. And even if you don't like hip hop, just download it, if not for her then for me *flutters eyes and smiles*

Next, you can go to Sarahaha's blog at the moment and enter her giveaway for a beautiful clutch. I don't think it would go with anything I own, but I'm sure it would go lovely in one of my lovely female readers collections.

Thirdly, while I did mention the wisdom that got me to return to blogging, I forgot to mention the petition touchingjoy organised to entice me to come back. That was very sweet of her. The lengths she went to to get some of those names are extraordinary.

Fourthly, the girl in the stiletto left me a comment last week that I think warrants special mention. "i'm clinging tightly to your nasal hair now" made me laugh exceptionally hard.

And last last lastly to miss rambles and PinkNic, both of whom accused me of being a dirty liar when I said I was leaving the bloggosphere forever.. I sure showed you.

Oh, and to the follower who left me this week, enjoy your lamp post.

Until next time.
